Major Social Media Platforms Experience Outages on U.S. Coasts: What’s Happening with Facebook and Instagram?

Instagram and Facebook are currently experiencing outages, with a significant increase in user complaints reported on DownDetector. As of 9:47 pm ET, Instagram had 11,965 complaints, while Facebook had 650 complaints at 9:48 pm ET.

– 71% of Facebook users reported issues with the website, 20% had app-related problems, and 10% couldn’t log in.
– For Instagram, 55% of users complained about the app, 33% mentioned server connection issues, and 12% couldn’t log in.
– Users expressed frustration over the apps not working properly, with one user simply stating, “Ughhh wtf?”

Additionally, Instagram’s Threads platform also saw a surge in complaints on DownDetector. From no complaints at all at 7:19 pm ET to 125 at 9:49 pm ET.

– Threads users reported issues with the app (72%), website (25%), and server connection (3%).
– One user shared their experience on DownDetector stating, “Threads is down big time for me. Anyone else?”
