Missing Out: Pixel 8a Lacks Android 15’s Audio-Sharing Feature Found in 8 and 8 Pro

Android 15 is on the horizon, bringing exciting new features to Android devices. One of the anticipated additions is audio-sharing support, based on Auracast technology developed by Bluetooth SIG.

The latest Pixel 8 series will be able to enjoy this feature, but unfortunately, it seems that the Pixel 8a may miss out. Android expert Mishaal Rahman suggests that the audio-sharing feature will not be available on the Pixel 8a or older Pixel models. While the Pixel 8a does support Bluetooth LE Audio, Google has not enabled the necessary broadcasting rules for this feature.

Rahman managed to enable LE Audio broadcast support on his Pixel 8 Pro through code manipulation, although it is not activated by default. Regrettably, the Pixel 8a lacks certain firmware components required for this feature to work.

There is still hope for Pixel 8a users as Android 15 is not yet in its final version. It is possible that support for audio-sharing may be added in future updates. It can be frustrating when hardware capabilities are not fully utilized due to software limitations, especially when more premium devices have access to these features. However, it is likely that the Pixel 8a will eventually gain support for audio-sharing.

In conclusion, while there may be some uncertainty surrounding the availability of this feature on the Pixel 8a at present, there is a possibility of it being added in the future updates of Android 15. Stay tuned for more information as developments unfold!
