Are you tired of your phone not responding when it gets wet? The new “adaptive touch” feature hidden in the Android 14 beta for Pixel phones is here to solve that problem. This feature will automatically adjust the screen sensitivity based on environmental changes and screen protectors, making it easier to use your phone in any condition.
If you have a Pixel 8 series, the phone will prompt you to turn on the screen protector mode if it detects a screen protector. Other Android phones have similar features, but the “adaptive touch” for Pixel will take it a step further by increasing screen sensitivity automatically when using a screen protector or during certain environmental changes.
Android expert Mishaal Rahman revealed that the Android 14 QPR3 Beta 1 contains code for “adaptive touch,” and a new submenu called “Touch sensitivity” is being prepared for this feature. Currently, the only toggle under Touch sensitivity is the Screen protector mode which increases touch sensitivity when using a screen protector.
The new adaptive touch feature could allow Pixel users to use their phones in wet or cold conditions and even while swimming (although we wouldn’t recommend that!). These features are expected to be part of the June Pixel Feature drop, which could be released on June 3rd.
Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new feature!
