Pilot Voice Translation for podcasts now available on Spotify

Phones Canada is excited to share the news about Spotify’s latest feature: Voice Translation for podcasts. This new feature, powered by AI and developed in partnership with OpenAI, allows podcasts to be translated into different languages while retaining the original speaker’s voice.

The main goal of Voice Translation for podcasts is to provide a more authentic listening experience for users. By matching the original speaker’s voice, listeners can enjoy podcast episodes in their preferred language without losing the unique characteristics of the speaker’s speech.

To ensure a successful pilot launch, Spotify collaborated with well-known podcasters like Dax Shepard, Monica Padman, Lex Fridman, Bill Simmons, and Steven Bartlett. The first voice-translated episodes created by these podcasters will be available worldwide for both Premium and free users.

Initially, the translated episodes will be available in Spanish, with French and German translations rolling out in the coming days and weeks. This expansion will cater to an even wider audience, allowing more users to enjoy their favorite podcasts in their native language.

As part of this announcement, Spotify has also revealed some exciting podcast episodes that will be rolled out to users on the Now Playing View. These episodes include:

– Lex Fridman Podcast – “Interview with Yuval Noah Harari”
– Armchair Expert – “Kristen Bell, by the grace of God, returns”
– The Diary of a CEO with Steven Bartlett – “Interview with Dr. Mindy Pelz”

In addition to this feature launch, Spotify proudly announced that over 100 million people regularly listen to podcasts on their platform. This statistic highlights the growing popularity and demand for podcast content among users.

Stay tuned for more exciting updates from Spotify as they continue to enhance the podcast listening experience for all users.
