Possible rewrite: Could the Galaxy S24 outshine the iPhone 15 Pro in gaming performance?

Phones Canada: Galaxy S24 Expected to Excel in Gaming, Can Compete with iPhone 15 Pro

For a considerable period of time, Apple’s Bionic chipsets have been the reigning champions in the mobile chipset race, offering unbeatable performance and power efficiency. Their latest flagship chipset, the A17 Pro, is a true powerhouse that can handle console-level games on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Nevertheless, competitors are catching up. Qualcomm’s recently launched Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 managed to outperform the A17 Pro in a graphics test, specifically the 3DMark Extreme (High) benchmark, which heavily burdens the GPU. To explore the detailed performance test results, please refer to the information below.

Samsung, now ready to make a comeback, took a step back with the Galaxy S23 series by offering only Qualcomm Snapdragon SoCs for all regions instead of their own Exynos chipsets. However, reports suggest that Samsung will revert to its previous approach with the upcoming Galaxy S24 lineup. A statement made by Samsung LSI president Park Yong-in during a keynote presentation at the Semiconductor Expo (SEDEX) supports this assumption. Mr. Park Yong-in insinuated that the Exynos 2400, Samsung’s future flagship chipset, will offer superior graphics processing performance compared to products from North American competitors.

While no specific competitor was mentioned, we can assume that the reference is to Apple’s A17 Pro, considering the limited competition Samsung faces in North America.

Which Galaxy S24 models will feature the Exynos 2400 chip? It is currently safest to assume that Samsung will follow its established pattern by equipping North American models with Snapdragon chipsets and utilizing Exynos chipsets for the rest of the world. However, rumors suggest that Samsung might release the Galaxy S24 Ultra with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for all markets, while still maintaining the division between Exynos and Snapdragon for the regular S24 and the S24 Plus models.

The definitive answer to this question is yet to be confirmed, but we will not have to wait too long. The Galaxy S24 series is expected to be announced in January 2024. Stay tuned for more updates.
