Samsung’s latest foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6, are now available for preorder in the US with exciting deals before their official launch. In Korea, these innovative devices are already hitting the shelves today.
To celebrate the launch, Samsung has shared some preorder numbers for the period of June 12 to June 18. A total of 910,000 units were preordered during this time, slightly less than their predecessors, the Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5, in a similar timeframe last year.
Despite initial expectations from Samsung executives that these new models would outsell their predecessors by a significant margin, it seems that overall sales will be the key factor. Interestingly, most buyers of the Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 are in their 20s or 30s, showing a strong interest in foldable phones among younger consumers.
The appeal of foldable phones lies not only in their cool factor but also in their practicality. The Z Fold 6 offers a large display when needed, while the Flip 6 can fold in half to easily fit into even the smallest pockets.
The slight decrease in preorder numbers for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 may be due to modest design and hardware upgrades during this transitional year for Samsung’s foldable phone lineup. However, rumors suggest that Samsung is still working on a Z Fold Slim version that could be announced as soon as October.
Many customers at Samsung’s flagship store in Gangnam district already owned a foldable phone and were upgrading to the latest models. While some jumped from previous Flip models to the new Flip 6, others with Z Flip 5 seemed content with their current device.
The Z Fold 6 received more design upgrades compared to its predecessor, leading to an increase in its popularity among buyers. Interestingly, Silver Shadow emerged as the most preferred color for both the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 in Korea.
