Samsung allegedly reduces production targets for the Fold 5 and Flip 5 despite a rise in sales by 10%.

Samsung’s Latest Foldable Handsets See Increase in Sales

Samsung’s latest foldable handsets, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5, are performing well in the market. Sales of these devices have increased by 10% compared to the previous models, Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4, during the same period last year. According to sources, Samsung currently has over 8 weeks of inventory for both phones, indicating a steady demand for these book-style and clamshell foldable phones.

Galaxy Z Flip 5 Dominates Sales

The Galaxy Z Flip 5 accounts for 65% of the total sales of the line. Samsung regularly orders parts for these foldable phones every two weeks, allowing for flexibility to meet increased demand. Despite the higher sales this year, Samsung has reduced its production targets due to challenging global economic conditions.

Samsung Could Ship 10 Million Galaxy Z Units Worldwide

Samsung may ship 10 million units of its Galaxy Z series globally this year. Out of this, 7 million units will be comprised of Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5, and the remaining 3 million units will consist of legacy models. Last year, Samsung shipped over 9 million units of its foldable phones.

Stable Demand Expected During South Korea’s Thanksgiving Holiday

South Korea’s Thanksgiving Holiday is approaching, and Samsung has not placed additional orders for parts. This suggests that the projected demand for the near future is expected to remain stable. Typically, suppliers halt production during the holiday season, and if demand was exceptionally high, Samsung would have ordered more parts before the shutdown.

Samsung Aims for Early Release of Galaxy S24 Series

According to sources, Samsung’s suppliers will soon begin manufacturing parts for the upcoming Galaxy S24 series. The company intends to launch this series a month earlier than the Galaxy S23 line released this year. By doing so, Samsung aims to compete with the highly anticipated iPhone 15 line, which is expected to have strong sales in early 2023.
