Samsung recently surprised everyone with the unveiling of its latest Galaxy S24 series, which is now available for pre-order. However, the tech giant had one more surprise up its sleeve – the Galaxy Ring. This will be Samsung’s first smart ring, and while not much was revealed at the Unpacked event, recent reports shed more light on what to expect.
Analyst Avi Greengart, who claims to have had hands-on experience with the Galaxy Ring, described it as “ridiculously light” and mentioned that it will come in three finishes and up to 13 sizes. Although the exact release date was not disclosed, it is expected to launch later this year, possibly at the Unpacked event in the second half of 2024.
As for its features, the Galaxy Ring is anticipated to include heart rate/SpO2 monitoring, sleep tracking, and workout tracking. It may also sync data with Samsung Health and could potentially be positioned as an accessory for the Galaxy Watch, offering more advanced health tracking capabilities. Alternatively, it could function as a standalone tracker or pair with existing smartwatches, similar to the Amazfit Helio Ring.
Smart rings seem to be gaining traction in 2024, with Amazfit introducing its own Helio Ring during CES 2024 and Oura also gearing up to launch the fourth generation of its smart rings. With Samsung joining the smart ring trend later this year, it wouldn’t be surprising if other major tech companies follow suit.
