The latest iPhone 15 series now embraces both MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging

During a recent event, Apple unveiled its new lineup of iPhones and introduced the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 smartwatches. What caught the attention of many was the announcement that the upcoming iPhone 15 lineup will support Qi2, the next generation of the Qi wireless charging standard, alongside Apple’s MagSafe technology.

This means that iPhone 15 users will have the flexibility to charge their devices using either a MagSafe wireless charger or a non-MagSafe one, without compromising on charging speed. While current wireless chargers like those from Anker provide a charging speed of only 7.5W, the MagSafe charger can fill the phone’s battery up to two times faster, at speeds of up to 15W. With the new Qi2 wireless chargers also capable of delivering up to 15W charging speeds, your iPhone will charge just as rapidly as it would with Apple’s MagSafe technology.

But the good news doesn’t end there! As Qi2 is based on Apple’s MagSafe technology, it also utilizes magnets to securely attach your phone to the charger, ensuring the familiar MagSafe experience is not compromised. Moreover, since manufacturers won’t be required to pay licensing fees to incorporate Apple’s technology, accessories offering a MagSafe-like experience could potentially become more affordable.

Furthermore, it is anticipated that the new Qi2 standard will enable even faster charging speeds in the future. As these chargers become available on the market, iPhone users with Qi2 support will be able to take advantage of the enhanced charging capabilities.
