The release date for iOS 17.3 is revealed in Apple’s footnote

iOS 17.3 is set to release the week of January 22nd, and iPhone users have a couple of new features to look forward to. First, the update will introduce Stolen Device Protection, making it more difficult for someone to steal your device. This feature will prompt Face ID or Touch ID to verify the identity of the person requesting certain tasks to be done, especially while the device is away from home or work.

Tasks that will require biometric verification include viewing or using passwords saved in iCloud Keychain, applying for a new Apple Card, turning off Lost Mode, and more. Additionally, certain tasks will be delayed by an hour before completing to provide the victim of theft time to prevent any changes.

iOS 17.3 will also feature Collaborative Apple Music Playlists. This feature allows others to help create a playlist for your Apple Music account by adding songs, deleting songs, and changing the order of tunes on the list. Users can even share emojis in the Now Playing interface to react to song choices.

To check if the iOS 17.3 update has arrived, head to Settings > General > Software Update starting next Monday.
