Phones Canada Analysis: T-Mobile Dominates 5G Availability Worldwide
In a recent report by Opensignal, T-Mobile emerged as the leading carrier in the world for 5G availability. The study, which covered countries based on their land area, placed T-Mobile ahead of Verizon, AT&T, and other major carriers in countries like India, Australia, Brazil, Japan, and China.
T-Mobile’s success can be attributed to its unique approach to 5G rollout. While competitors focused on mmWave technology, T-Mobile prioritized low-band 5G coverage to ensure widespread availability. They later expanded their mid-band deployments, resulting in significant speed improvements in thousands of cities and towns across the US.
According to the report, T-Mobile’s 5G availability score stands at an impressive 56.1%. This represents the proportion of time that T-Mobile customers spend on a 5G connection in real-world settings. No other carrier has been able to surpass this threshold.
In addition to dominating in 5G availability, T-Mobile Puerto Rico also emerged as the leader in group II countries, surpassing wireless providers in South Korea and Kuwait.
However, when it comes to download speeds, T-Mobile is not listed as a global leader in either group I or group II. This is because T-Mobile’s focus on availability led to less emphasis on top speeds. But it’s worth noting that T-Mobile remains the fastest 5G service provider in the US, in addition to excelling in areas such as latency, reliability, and consistency.
While competitors like AT&T and Verizon have shown progress in terms of download speeds, T-Mobile’s current dominance in the 5G market is unlikely to change anytime soon. With their unwavering commitment to 5G availability and customer experience, T-Mobile continues to set the bar high for other mobile network operators worldwide.
