Galaxy S23 users have already received the first two One UI 6.0 Beta releases, bringing them closer to the final version of the One UI 6.0 interface and Android 14. The latest One UI 6.0 Beta, build ZWI4, was recently released to Galaxy S23 devices in Germany and the U.K. However, there was an interesting hidden meaning in this build number.
The “I” in ZWI4 represents the ninth letter of the alphabet, indicating that the update was developed in September. This follows the previous update, which had the build number ZWHO, indicating development in August. Therefore, ZWI4 is believed to be One UI 6.0 Beta 3.
However, there were some peculiarities surrounding this third Beta release. Samsung did not make any official announcements about it, and it came just one week after the second Beta release. Moreover, this was the first One UI 6.0 Beta released in the U.K. Many speculated that this update was actually a hotfix intended to address bugs from the previous release. The small size of the update also added to the speculation.
It turns out that build number ZWI4 was accidentally released by Samsung. A Samsung community moderator revealed that the update was sent to users earlier than planned. Samsung advises users to erase the ZWI4 update and has planned a rollback via Smart Switch to avoid complications with future updates. Although ZWI4 was briefly available on Samsung’s servers, some users managed to install it. The regularly scheduled One UI 6.0 Beta 3 update is expected to arrive soon.
Interestingly, Samsung broke tradition by starting the One UI 6.0 Beta program with the Galaxy A54 mid-range device instead of the previous year’s flagship model, the Galaxy S22 line. After the Galaxy S23 series, the Galaxy S22 series will be the next in line to receive the One UI 6.0 Beta update.
Stay tuned for more updates on Samsung’s One UI 6.0 Beta program and the latest features coming to the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S22 series.
