Apple’s New Warranty Policy: What You Need to Know About iPhone and Apple Watch Coverage

Apple has recently updated its warranty policy for the iPhone and Apple Watch, but unfortunately, this change does not offer additional protection for device owners. According to reports from 9to5Mac, the standard warranty no longer covers “single hairline cracks,” which are now considered accidental damage that users will have to pay for to get repaired.

This policy change went into effect this month, where previously, single hairline cracks were covered under the standard warranty as long as there was no other visible damage or obvious point of impact leading to the crack. Now, Apple requires that any customer bringing in an iPhone or Apple Watch with a hairline crack must file a repair claim as accidental damage.

It’s important to note that this change only applies to single hairline cracks on iPhone and Apple Watch displays and does not affect Apple’s policy for the iPad and Mac. Repairs for similar damage on these devices will still be covered by a valid warranty. As of now, Apple has not provided an explanation for this adjustment.

If you’re wondering how much it will cost to repair your screen, you can visit the support page, select your iPhone model, and get an estimate of the repair cost. For those with a hairline crack on their Apple Watch, you can also get an estimate and schedule a repair or mail pickup through a provided link.

When it comes to getting your screen repaired, you have two options:
– Schedule an appointment with an Apple Authorized Service Provider or visit an Apple Store.
– Arrange to have your device mailed directly to Apple.

By clicking on the “Get Service” button on the support page, you can easily schedule a repair at a nearby Apple Store or set up shipment to an Apple Repair Center. The same options are available for repairing your Apple Watch screen – simply tap on the “Get Service” button on the support page to choose between in-store service or mail-in repair.
