Boost Your Phone’s Performance with A17 Pro’s Neural Engine in iOS 18 Benchmark Test

Apple’s Core ML is a powerful Machine Learning framework utilized by Apple to enhance the AI capabilities of its devices, allowing for faster and more efficient performance. By running AI models and machine learning tasks on-device, Core ML delivers near real-time results without the need for a network connection, ensuring user privacy is maintained at a high level.

Recent updates from iOS 17.5.1 to iOS 18 have shown significant improvements in performance on Apple devices powered by the A17 Pro application processor (AP), such as the iPhone 15 Pro Max. According to tech enthusiast @lafaiel, the Neural Engine on the A17 Pro now runs up to 25% faster with iOS 18 installed. The Core ML Neural Inference Score on Geekbench has increased from 6249 to 7816 on an iPhone 15 Pro Max running iOS 17.5.1 and iOS 18, respectively.

The A17 Pro boasts impressive specs with 8GB of RAM, compared to the A16 Bionic’s 6GB found in the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models. Additionally, the newer 3nm AP features a Neural Engine capable of handling up to 35 trillion operations per second, surpassing the previous A16 Bionic’s peak of 17 trillion operations per second.

Looking ahead, expectations are high for future chipsets like the A18 and A18 Pro that will power upcoming iPhone models. The Neural Engine on the M4 iPad Pro can handle an impressive 38 trillion operations per second, giving us insight into what may be in store for Apple’s next-generation chips.

Apple has also introduced a new MLTensor type within the Core ML framework, offering an efficient and intuitive API for operations on multi-dimensional arrays. This enhancement further solidifies Apple’s commitment to maximizing performance while optimizing memory usage and power consumption across its devices.

Exciting news for Apple enthusiasts – the iOS 18 developer beta is currently available with the public beta expected next month. The final stable version of iOS 18 is set to be released in September alongside the highly anticipated iPhone 16 series launch event. Stay tuned for more updates on how Core ML continues to elevate Apple’s innovative technology!
