A Reddit subscriber with the username “Commercial_Big_4378” had his iPhone 15 Pro Max stolen, and the thief allegedly sent him a text message requesting to disable the Find My app. Disabling this app is the last thing you should do if your iPhone is lost or stolen, as the thief can gain access to all of your personal information. Instead, the victim contacted Apple, and the device was locked and wiped, and the phone is now located in China.

To prevent unauthorized access to your device, ensure that you have iOS 17.3 installed and enable the Stolen Device Protection feature in Settings > Face ID & Passcode. Even if you receive a threatening text, do not disable the Find My app if your iPhone is stolen, as this could give the thief access to sensitive information.
