If you own a pair of AirPods Pro 2, you may have received a new firmware update from Apple. The latest update, version 6F7, is now available for both the Lightning and USB-C versions of the AirPods Pro 2. While Apple typically doesn’t disclose specific details about firmware updates, they mention that it includes bug fixes and other improvements.
Your AirPods will automatically receive firmware updates when charging and within Bluetooth range of your iPhone, iPad, or Mac connected to Wi-Fi. You can also check if your AirPods are up to date using one of your other Apple devices.
To check the firmware version of your AirPods using your iPhone or iPad:
– Open Settings
– Tap on Bluetooth
– Find your AirPods in the list and tap on the Info button next to their name
– Scroll down to the About section to see the firmware version
Last year at the Wonderlust event, Apple introduced the refreshed AirPods Pro 2 with a USB-C port instead of Lightning. Along with this hardware update, Apple also released a software update for the AirPods Pro 2, bringing new features such as:
– Adaptive Audio that blends Transparency mode and Noise Cancellation based on your environment
– Personalized Volume adjustment powered by AI
– Conversation Awareness for volume adjustments during conversations
– Automatic Switching for seamless transitions between devices
– A new Mute/Unmute feature for easy audio control
Looking ahead, we can expect the next-generation AirPods Pro 3 to arrive in 2025. The classic white design with a rounded-square plastic case, LED indicator, lanyard loop, and speaker is likely to remain unchanged. Stay tuned for more updates on these innovative wireless earbuds!
