We are excited to share some fantastic news for Google Meet users! The latest update to the app now includes support for high definition video in meeting recordings and on compatible devices. Google has officially announced that full HD video content can now be enjoyed during recorded meetings within the Meet app.
Here are some key highlights of this update:
– The maximum resolution for the speaker’s video feed has been increased from 720p to 1080p, delivering a clearer and more detailed video experience.
– Previously, Meet only supported 1080p recording for presented content, but now users can also enjoy full HD video for the speaker’s video feed.
– In addition to full HD video content for recorded meetings, users now have the option to send full HD video on all computers equipped with 1080p cameras. Please note that this feature is disabled by default and needs to be enabled through the settings menu.
Google has also provided some important details regarding the use of full HD video:
– Full HD video will be sent when recording is activated or when one or more users have pinned a 1080p-enabled user on a large enough screen to display the higher resolution feed.
– Google Meet will automatically adjust the resolution if a device is experiencing bandwidth constraints. It’s worth noting that sending 1080p video will require additional bandwidth.
This exciting update is available to Google Workspace customers with various subscriptions, including Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Essentials and Essentials Plus, Enterprise Starter, Standard, and Plus, as well as Education Plus and the Teaching & Learning Upgrade.
Furthermore, the ability to send full HD video on computers with 1080p cameras is also accessible to Google Workspace customers with Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Starter, Standard, and Plus, Education Plus and the Teaching & Learning Upgrade, Enterprise Essentials and Essentials Plus, as well as Google One subscribers with 2TB or more storage space.
With these new features in place, Google Meet continues to enhance the overall meeting experience by providing high-quality visuals for users across different devices. Stay tuned for more updates as we strive to make your virtual meetings even more engaging and productive!
