Apple’s Innovative “Presto” System to Update iPhones Inside Retail Boxes
At Phones Canada, we are excited to share the latest news from Apple about their new technology called “Presto.” This system allows Apple to install software updates on multiple iPhone units even when they are powered off and still in their retail boxes inside an Apple Store. This means that when you purchase a new iPhone from an Apple store, it will come out of the box running the latest version of iOS without any manual updates needed.
Here are some key points about Apple’s “Presto” system:
– The technology was developed to address the issue of new iPhone models being released after software updates.
– To update iPhones inside never-opened retail boxes, a stack of these boxes is placed on a special pad developed by Apple.
– Each unit in the stack is wirelessly turned on, receives the iOS update, downloads and installs it, and then shuts down.
– The boxed iPhone units will run the latest version of iOS when booted up for the first time after purchase.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, “Presto” utilizes MagSafe wireless charging and other wireless technologies for seamless updates. The plan is for this technology to be available at all U.S. Apple Stores by summer after successful testing last year.
While details about international availability and whether carrier partners will have access to “Presto” remain unknown, we look forward to seeing how this innovative system improves the user experience at Apple Stores. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development in iPhone technology!
