Exciting News: Epic Games Store Now Available on iOS in Europe, Developer Account Unbanned – iPhone in Canada Blog

In exciting news for Fortnite fans, Epic Games has announced the expansion of its Epic Games Store to iOS platforms in Europe. This move comes after the company confirmed the restoration of its Apple Developer account, marking a positive step forward in its relationship with Apple amid ongoing legal disputes.

Apple’s decision to grant Epic Games Sweden AB a developer account for operating the Epic Games Store and Fortnite in Europe under the Digital Markets Act has been acknowledged as a good faith move by Tim Sweeney, CEO of Epic Games. This development follows recent changes made by Apple to adhere to the Digital Markets Act in Europe.

The backstory to this announcement involves Apple removing Fortnite from the App Store back in 2020 after Epic Games introduced its own direct payment system inside the game, violating App Store rules. This move led to Epic suing Apple over what it called anti-competitive behavior.

The conversation around this announcement also delved into the future of Fortnite on Apple’s platforms. When asked about the possibility of Fortnite returning to macOS and Unreal Engine Fortnite (UEFN), Sweeney expressed confusion over Apple’s previous decision to remove Fortnite from Mac, stating that it was never available on the Mac App Store and did not violate any of its rules.

While European iPhone users can look forward to having Fortnite back on their devices along with access to the Epic Games Store on iOS, there’s no indication of when or if Fortnite will return to iPhones elsewhere.

Exciting times are ahead for European iPhone users who are eager to get back into their favorite game! Stay tuned for further updates as this situation unfolds.
