T-Mobile has made significant investments in upgrading its 5G network in Louisiana over the past few years. This week, the carrier announced the completion of major upgrades worth $290 million, expanding 5G coverage across the state.
With these upgrades, businesses, schools, healthcare providers, first responders, and all T-Mobile customers in Louisiana can now enjoy faster internet speeds. The 5G service now covers 99 percent of interstate highways, US highways, and state routes in the state.
During the upgrade process, T-Mobile added approximately 300 new cell sites and upgraded 1,870 existing sites. Additionally, 92 percent of Louisiana residents now have access to Mid Band-Ultra Capacity 5G, marking a significant increase of 192 percent over the past three years.
Ulf Ewaldsson, President of Technology at T-Mobile, expressed excitement about the enhanced connectivity in Louisiana. He stated that the efforts to improve 5G connectivity are providing new opportunities for growth with faster speeds and better reliability across more locations than ever before.
Moreover, T-Mobile disclosed that a portion of the $290 million investment was allocated towards upgrading its 5G service in Greater New Orleans with an additional $50 million investment.
