Google’s Pixel Fold users were left disappointed when the Circle to Search feature was not available on their devices despite being Google’s most expensive smartphone. However, Google has finally rolled out this feature to the Pixel Fold, much to the relief of many users, including myself.
I was pleasantly surprised when my Pixel Fold received a notification that Circle to Search was now available while I was in the middle of a YouTube live stream. This feature allows users to search Google by circling or tapping items on their screen, making it a convenient tool for quick searches without the hassle of multiple steps.
Circle to Search is currently only functional on the internal display of the Pixel Fold, even though the navigation bar is visible on both the cover and internal screens. It seems that this feature is part of the Android 14 April Security Patch or Android 14 QPR3 Beta 2.1 update.
Google has also hinted at integrating translation within Circle to Search in the future, which would be incredibly useful for travelers looking for instant translations while abroad. Other devices set to receive this feature include the Pixel 7a, Pixel 6a, Pixel 6, and Pixel 6 Pro. On Samsung devices, Circle to Search will be available on the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra, Galaxy Tab S9+, and Galaxy Tab S9 WiFi.
Overall, it’s great to see Google fulfilling its promise and bringing new features to its flagship devices. Stay tuned for more updates on exciting features coming your way!
