Eufy Delays Launch of Android Bluetooth Trackers to Late 2024
Eufy recently announced a delay in the release of its highly anticipated Bluetooth trackers compatible with Google’s Find My Device network. Originally set for a June launch, the SmartTrack Link and SmartTrack Card are now expected to hit the market in late 2024.
The delay came to light when Eufy quietly updated the original blog post announcing the trackers. The revised post now simply states that the devices will be available in late 2024, without providing further details on the reason for the delay.
This news may disappoint Android users eagerly awaiting Eufy’s entry into the Bluetooth tracker market. Eufy had positioned its trackers as an alternative to Apple AirTags, known for their robust network and UWB technology for precise location tracking.
Despite this setback, Eufy appears dedicated to eventually bringing its trackers to market. The company has labeled the devices as “SmartTrack for Android,” distinguishing them from its existing iOS-compatible trackers. This move indicates that Eufy is developing specialized trackers for the Android ecosystem, potentially with features tailored to the platform.
However, with Eufy’s delay, consumers have limited options for Bluetooth trackers harnessing Google’s Find My Device network capabilities. Currently, only a few trackers from Pebblebee and Chipolo are on the market. Motorola is also set to release its Moto Tag on August 2nd, rumored to offer impressive features like UWB support.
The reason behind Eufy’s decision to postpone the launch remains unclear. It could be due to production challenges or a desire to enhance device features. Regardless of the cause, this delay represents a missed opportunity for Eufy to meet the growing demand for Bluetooth trackers in the Android market.
