Google’s latest AI assistant, Gemini, continues to evolve and become more intelligent each day. It is now equipped to assist with various tasks, such as planning trips and providing real-time information. While initially facing challenges in taking over the Android assistant role, Google has been dedicated to enhancing Gemini’s capabilities, and it now boasts a new superpower.
Recently, Android Police reported that Google is officially launching the YouTube Music Gemini Extension. This extension allows users to easily play their favorite songs or artists directly from YouTube Music through Gemini Apps. By connecting your YouTube Music account, you can command Gemini to display, locate, or play music from YouTube Music using specific prompts like “Find [song name] by [artist name]” or “Find the album [album title] by [artist name].”
To enable the YouTube Music extension in Gemini, simply visit gemini.google.com/extensions or instruct Gemini on your phone to play music. A pop-up will guide you through activating the extension. Please note that this feature is currently only available in English and requires both your Google accounts for Gemini and YouTube Music to be linked.
It’s important to mention that the YouTube Music extension does not function within Google Messages on Gemini and only responds to prompts in English. Nevertheless, this expansion of capabilities signifies an exciting step forward for Gemini beyond its traditional tasks of organization and data processing. By enabling this feature, you grant Gemini access to analyze your music preferences and history – a small trade-off for the added convenience it brings to your daily life.
As Google continues to enhance Gemini’s functionality, it becomes increasingly valuable as a reliable assistant tailored to meet your needs effectively. Embrace these updates as part of Google’s ongoing efforts to make technology more intuitive and user-friendly for everyone.
