Explore Samsung’s Live Translate: Now with 3 Additional Languages for Enhanced Communication!

Samsung’s Live Translate feature has expanded to support three more languages, bringing the total to 16 languages! The new additions are Arabic, Indonesian, and Russian. They join the existing languages supported by Live Translate: Chinese (simplified), English, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, Thai, and Vietnamese.

Live Translate is a powerful tool that provides real-time translations during phone calls. This feature listens to the other party and translates their words into a language you understand. It’s like having a Babel Fish from Douglas Adams’ The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy in your ear!

Thanks to the recent One UI 6.1 update, Live Translate is now available beyond the Galaxy S24 series. This update brings Live Translate and other useful features like Circle to Search to more Samsung devices.

At Samsung Research’s Global AI Center, experts like Yoonjung Choi and Yonghyun Ryu are working on cutting-edge AI technologies like Live Translate. They explain that on-device AI is crucial for ensuring privacy and efficient operation without relying on external servers.

Training an AI to translate accurately across different languages poses unique challenges due to cultural nuances and linguistic complexities. Samsung’s team works closely with regional R&D centers and linguists to ensure accurate translations that consider cultural context.

Despite the challenges involved in translating diverse languages accurately, Samsung continues to refine its AI models for Live Translate. By incorporating colloquial language data and collaborating with experts worldwide, Samsung aims to provide users with seamless translation experiences across multiple languages.

Stay tuned for more updates on Live Translate at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event in July!
