Exynos 2500 AP specifications leaked as Samsung continues with the Deca-core design

Samsung has recently released the Exynos 2400 application processor (AP) and it has performed exceptionally well in benchmark tests. In fact, its performance has been compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 AP. The impressive performance of the Exynos 2400 SoC has significantly enhanced the reputation of the Exynos line. As a result, it seems that Samsung is planning to incorporate the Deca-core build of the Exynos 2400 chipset into the Exynos 2500.

A leaked slide from last October revealed details about Samsung’s “Dream chip,” also known as the Exynos 2500 AP. It is rumored to be the first chip built using Samsung Foundry’s second-generation 3nm process. This process utilizes Gate-all-around (GAA) transistors, which cover all four sides of the channel to limit current leaks and increase the drive current. In comparison, TSMC won’t be incorporating GAA until it starts its 2nm production, giving Samsung Foundry a slight edge at 3nm over the world’s largest foundry.

A leaked slide of the Exynos 2500 SoC indicates that it will feature one Cortex-X5 Prime core clocked at 3.2-3.3GHz, three Cortex-A730 Performance CPU cores running at 2.3GHz-2.5GHz, two more Cortex-A730 Performance CPU cores running at an unknown slower clock speed, and four Cortex-A520 Efficiency CPU cores.

The Exynos 2400 chipset, which currently powers the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ in most markets outside of the U.S. and China, has been well-received for its benchmark scores. In contrast, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 AP powers the Galaxy S24 Ultra in all markets and the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ in the U.S. and China. Samsung’s success with the Exynos 2400 chipset is a promising sign for the future of its mobile processors.
