Rogers Stops Selling Fido-Branded Home Internet, But Now It’s Back

In a surprising turn of events, Rogers recently announced that it had ceased offering Fido-branded home internet to new customers in October. This decision was followed by a price increase for existing Fido internet customers. However, the company has now updated its website to promote ‘Rogers Internet’ in its ‘Shop’ drop-down menu, signaling a change of heart.

If you’re a current Fido internet customer, don’t worry – your service is still intact. In fact, some customers have managed to negotiate better deals by threatening to switch providers. This recent development comes on the heels of Rogers and other major telecom companies acquiring smaller independent internet service providers.

Now, when you click on the ‘Rogers Internet’ link on the Fido website, where it takes you depends on your location. Customers within the Shaw internet footprint (owned by Rogers) will be directed to Shaw.ca. As for those in Ontario and other regions, they will be redirected to Rogers internet plans.

For those within the Shaw internet footprint, Rogers and Fido customers can enjoy special savings on 2-year ValuePlans. Here are the plan options and their corresponding prices (note that prices may increase after 24 months):

– $55 for 75 Mbps download/upload
– $75 for 250 Mbps download/150 Mbps upload
– $85 for 500 Mbps download/150 Mbps upload
– $95 for 1 Gbps download/150 Mbps upload

It’s worth mentioning that non-Rogers/Fido customers pay $10 more per month for the same plans listed above.

This move by Rogers not only marks a shift in its strategy but also presents an opportunity for both new and existing customers to explore different internet options with attractive pricing plans.

Stay tuned as we keep you updated on all things telecom-related!
