Google’s claim that the Pixel Fold is “the thinnest foldable of all” may soon be challenged by the upcoming OnePlus Open foldable phone. According to tipster @MysteryLupin, OnePlus will market the device as the “Thinnest foldable available in North America.” This suggests that the OnePlus Open will be thinner than the Pixel Fold.
Currently, when folded, the Pixel Fold measures 12.1mm thick and 5.8mm when unfolded. In comparison, the Galaxy Fold 5 has a thickness of 13.4mm when folded and 6.1mm when unfolded. In some markets, the Honor Magic V2 claims the title of the thinnest foldable. The glass version measures 10.1mm when folded and 4.8mm unfolded, while the PU leather variant is 9.9mm folded and 4.7mm unfolded. However, since the Honor device is not available in North America, OnePlus can still maintain its claim.
The OnePlus Open will be available in two color options, Voyager Black and Emerald Dusk. It will feature 16GB of RAM, 512GB of flash storage, and a camera system with a periscope lens offering 6x optical zoom and optical image stabilization. The device will also boast the largest battery in a foldable phone and support 67W fast charging.
Priced at $1,699, the OnePlus Open will undercut the starting prices of both the Pixel Fold ($1,799) and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5. The official unveiling of the OnePlus Open is scheduled for October 19th, with pre-orders starting on the same day.
