Google has been working hard to improve the TV experience for its users, and this year has been a big one for updates to Google TV. They recently detailed plans for future updates on their support website, including improvements that have already been rolled out.
One of the updates earlier this year improved the start-up time and reduced RAM usage. Now, Google has made additional changes to enhance the Google TV experience, such as improving response speed on the home screen, optimizing the way tabs load, and reducing the size of preinstalled apps to make more room for the ones you actually want to use.
These improvements are already rolling out to Google TV users, and there’s even more to come. The Live tab introduced in April is getting an upgrade with two new categories: Recents and Local news. Plus, there will be a new “Free live news & opinion” row on the For you tab.
Google has also added 14 new free channels to Google TV, including the Xumo Holiday Movie Channel, DraftKings, and Speedvision. With these updates, Google TV users can look forward to an even better viewing experience.
