iPhone Under-Screen Face ID Delayed Once More – Latest Update on Cutting-Edge Technology!

Rumors about Apple’s plans for under-display Face ID on the iPhone have been circulating, but it seems like we may have to wait a bit longer for this technology to come to fruition. According to industry insiders and reliable sources, the iPhone 16 may not be the first device to feature under-screen Face ID as previously speculated.

Renowned display analyst Ross Young, who has a history of accurate predictions, initially suggested that the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max would introduce under-screen Face ID along with a pinhole camera. However, recent reports indicate that this plan has been pushed back to 2026.

Instead, it is now expected that the iPhone 18 and 18 Pro will be the pioneers in implementing under-display Face ID technology, while the standard models may follow suit in 2027. Until then, Apple will continue to utilize Dynamic Island technology, which was first introduced in the iPhone 14 Pro.

After integrating Face ID beneath the display, Apple is anticipated to incorporate under-panel camera technology developed by LG Innotek post-2026. This transition presents a more significant challenge compared to under-screen Face ID implementation.

Given Samsung’s experience with under-display cameras on devices like the Galaxy Fold 5, it is crucial for Apple to refine these technologies before rushing their integration. Reports suggest that Apple has already rejected one sample of an under-display camera due to quality concerns.

As we await further developments on future iPhone models, such as the iPhone 16 family expected to maintain similar designs as current-gen phones while leveraging iOS 18 and AI features for enhanced user experience. Stay tuned for more updates on Phones Canada’s blog!
