Possible rewrite: OnePlus Open Might Offer Significantly More Resilient Hinge than Galaxy Z Fold 5 Despite Lower Cost

The OnePlus Open is set to feature a 6.31-inch external display with a resolution of 1116 x 2484. In comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will have a slightly smaller 6.2-inch Cover Display with a resolution of 904 x 2316.

One notable advantage of the OnePlus Open is its more durable hinge. According to renowned tipster and journalist Max Jambor, the device has gone through extensive testing and can withstand at least 400,000 opens and closes. This means the phone can be opened and closed 100 times a day for over four years, surpassing the durability of Samsung’s “Flex Hinge” used in their latest foldable devices.

Samsung, on the other hand, claims that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 can endure 200,000 folds. This suggests that OnePlus expects users to open its foldable device twice as much as the Galaxy Z Fold 5, or Samsung wants their users to fold the device just half as often.

In terms of pricing, the OnePlus Open is expected to cost 124,990 Rupees ($1,510) in India, making it 19% cheaper than the Galaxy Z Fold 5, which is priced at 154,999 Rupees ($1,873).

The OnePlus Open is anticipated to be released in late September or October and will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. It will boast 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and come with 256GB of storage. The camera setup will include a 48MP Wide camera, a 48MP Ultra-wide camera, and a 64MP Telephoto camera. On the external display, there will be a 32MP front-facing camera, while the internal display will feature a 20MP front-facing camera. To keep the device running, it will be equipped with a 4800mAh battery.

Overall, the OnePlus Open not only offers a more affordable price compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 5 but also potentially delivers a more robust hinge, higher resolution screens with larger PPI, greater RAM capacity, a larger battery, and potentially an improved camera array. It seems to be a promising option for foldable phone enthusiasts.
