Hulu and Discovery+ Announce Price Increases
It is unfortunate news for subscribers as both Hulu and Discovery+ have announced price hikes for their services. Warner Bros. Discovery confirmed that prices will increase in certain countries without providing a specific reason, although it is likely due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.
Starting October 12, Hulu (No Ads) will cost $17.99 per month, up from $14.99 per month. However, the ad-supported plan will remain the same at $7.99/month (or $79.99/year).
As for the Hulu (With Ads) + Live TV, Disney+ (With Ads), and ESPN+ (With Ads) plan, the price will increase to $89.99 per month from $76.99 per month. Similarly, the Hulu (With Ads) + Live TV, Disney+ (No Ads), and ESPN+ (With Ads) plan will cost $81.99 per month instead of $74.99 per month. Lastly, the Live TV Only plan will see a price increase to $75.99 per month from $68.99 per month. It’s important to consider the overall cost if you subscribe to multiple streaming services.
Moving on to Discovery+, Warner Bros. Discovery has announced an increase in prices for the ad-free monthly subscription in the United States. Effective October 3, the price will rise from $6.99 to $8.99 (plus applicable taxes). However, the ad-lite subscription plan will remain at $4.99/month.
It is not just the United States that will experience price increases. In Canada, a new Discovery+ ad-free monthly subscription will rise from $6.99 CAD to $8.99 CAD, while a new Discovery+ ad-lite subscription will change from $4.99 CAD to $5.99 CAD.
These price hikes mark the first time Discovery+ has increased prices in the United States and Canada since its launch in January 2021.
