Qualcomm has unveiled its latest chipset, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, which is specifically designed for mid-range smartphones. The new chip utilizes the 4nm process technology and boasts Qualcomm’s advanced Kryo CPU and Adreno GPU. Additionally, it features Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ technology for fast charging.
One of the standout features of the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 is its dedicated Qualcomm AI Engine, which enhances photo and video capabilities. Users can expect crisp photos, 4K HDR videos, and improved nighttime shots with Qualcomm Low Light. The chipset is equipped with four performance cores clocked at up to 2.4GHz and four efficiency cores clocked at up to 1.95GHz.
Display-wise, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 supports FHD+ displays with a 144Hz refresh rate. It also offers impressive camera capabilities, including up to 16MP triple camera @ 30fps with Zero Shutter Lag, up to 48MP (or 64MP binned) single camera @ 30fps with Zero Shutter Lag, and up to 200MP photo capture.
Furthermore, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 boasts Snapdragon X62 5G modem, providing 5G mmWave and sub-6 GHz, standalone and non-standalone modes, FDD, and TDD (peak download of 2.9Gbps). In terms of gaming, the chipset supports HDR gaming with 10-bit color depth, as well as OpenGL ES 3.2, OpenCL 2.0 FP, and Vulkan 1.3.
Connectivity features are also abundant with GPS, Glonass, BeiDou, Galileo, NavIC, and QZSS all included. Memory-wise, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 supports LP-DDR5 memory up to 3200 MHz, LP-DDR4X memory up to 2133 MHz, and UFS 4.0 storage.
Unfortunately, Qualcomm has not provided information about the availability of smartphones with the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset. However, it is expected to hit the market by the end of the year. Stay tuned for further updates on this promising mid-range chipset.
