Phones Canada is excited to announce the rollout of Nothing OS 2.0.4 for the Nothing Phone (1). This update brings new features, bug fixes, and important improvements.

One of the new features included in the update is the addition of a home screen photo widget and an app drawer to hide and group unwanted apps. This feature is already available in the Nothing OS 2.5 Android 14 Open Beta. To update their phone, Nothing Phone (1) users can simply go to the Settings menu, select System, and then choose System update.

Here is the full changelog for the update:

New features:
– Users can now swipe to the left side of the app drawer to access the hidden icons compartment. This allows apps placed here to be relocated and hidden from the app drawer.
– The update introduces the Photo widget, which allows users to display their favorite photos on their home screen or lock screen.

Improvements and bug fixes:
– The charging tooltip in the lock screen now accurately reflects the charging speed.
– A rare issue causing lock screen widgets to not be displayed properly after restarting has been fixed.
– The cloned instance of WhatsApp now properly supports App Locker.
– The stability of Wi-Fi hotspotting has been improved.
– General bug fixes have been implemented.

Please note that this rollout is staged and staggered, meaning that not all users will receive the update at the same time. If you do not see the software update available, we recommend trying again later tonight or tomorrow morning. This approach allows us to monitor for any potential issues that may arise and may require the update to be paused or pulled.

In addition, Phone (2) owners can join the Nothing OS 2.5 Open Beta, which is based on Android 14. This update brings specific features from the newest Android operating system, including a monochrome color theme and customizable regional settings. It also includes Nothing OS-specific features such as a three-finger swipe to take screenshots and a customizable power button double-press function.
