Dyson is introducing a new tool called ‘CleanTrace’ to revolutionize how users visualize their vacuuming efforts in real-time. This innovative tool, set to launch in June, leverages AR technology through a smartphone for a seamless experience.
To enhance user experience, Dyson has developed a CleanTrace phone clamp that is compatible with the Dyson Gen5Detect vacuum. This lightweight clamp, weighing only 104 grams, can be easily attached to the vacuum’s stem. To unlock the full potential of Dyson’s CleanTrace technology, users need to register their Gen5Detect vacuum cleaner within the app.
The CleanTrace feature utilizes LiDAR technology from the user’s smartphone to map out a room and display cleaning pathways in real-time. Found within the MyDyson app, CleanTrace overlays an AR image on the floor to show which areas have been cleaned. Users can effortlessly monitor their cleaning progress and identify any missed spots once they have completed vacuuming.
Dyson envisions that CleanTrace will motivate users to clean more efficiently by providing valuable insights. Research indicates that most cleaning sessions last less than 10 minutes, even though many individuals believe they spend an average of 24 minutes per session. With CleanTrace, users can avoid repeatedly cleaning the same areas while overlooking others.
Drawing on technology from the Dyson 360 Vis Nav, which intelligently maps and cleans rooms, CleanTrace offers a sophisticated cleaning solution. According to Charlie Park, Dyson’s VP of Engineering, Dyson robots excel at navigating spaces and optimizing cleaning routines unlike traditional methods.
While pricing details for the Dyson CleanTrace clamp in Canada are forthcoming, customers can expect it to be available for purchase at Dyson Demo stores and on the company’s website once released. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting new product from Dyson!
