The latest leak of an alleged iPhone 16 mould has made its way online, and it’s stirring up quite the buzz in the tech community. The leaked mould, shared by leaker Majin Bu on X (formerly Twitter), gives us a glimpse of what could be a new vertical camera array for the upcoming iPhone 16.
Rumors suggest that the iPhone 16 may feature a vertical layout for its camera bump, and the leaked images seem to confirm just that. It appears that Apple might be working on a new pill-shaped camera array for its flagship series, as first reported by MacRumors.
In addition to the potential changes in the camera design, Apple is also believed to be introducing Spatial Video recording to the entry-level iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus this year. Currently, only the Pro versions of the iPhone 15 offer Spatial Video recording, so this would mark an exciting new feature for the standard models.
It’s interesting to note that the iPhone X introduced a vertical pill-shaped camera bump before transitioning to a diagonal orientation with subsequent models. Now, it seems like Apple might be going back to its roots with a similar design for the iPhone 16, albeit with some minor tweaks. The alleged wide and ultra-wide camera lenses appear to be positioned close together, while the LiDAR sensor seems to sit outside of the camera bump.
As always with leaks and rumors, it’s essential to take everything with a grain of salt. Plans can change throughout production, and these early moulds may just be used for testing purposes. However, there’s still a good chance that Apple will make adjustments to its camera layout this year to align better with its overall vision and synergy with Apple Vision Pro.
We’ll have to wait until September at the earliest for any official announcements or confirmations from Apple regarding the iPhone 16. In the meantime, we can continue keeping an eye out for more exciting updates and leaks about one of this year’s most anticipated smartphones. Stay tuned!
