Stay Alert: Apple Users Targeted by Phishing Scams Leveraging System Vulnerabilities • Phones Canada Blog

Apple customers have recently fallen victim to sophisticated phishing schemes exploiting a potential loophole in the password reset process. Here’s what you need to know:

– Scammers bombard users with system-level prompts on their Apple devices, pressuring them to take action to dismiss the messages.
– These scammers then pose as Apple support representatives, further escalating the attack by calling users directly.
– Entrepreneur Parth Patel shared his experience with a “push bombing” attack, where his Apple devices were flooded with alerts to approve a password change.
– The scammers even went as far as calling victims, impersonating Apple’s support line and providing accurate personal information, except for the victim’s real name.
– Cryptocurrency hedge fund owner Chris also encountered multiple password reset notifications and a suspicious call from someone claiming to be from Apple support.

Investigations into these incidents suggest a possible flaw in Apple’s system that may be allowing attackers to exploit this vulnerability for phishing attacks. Security researcher Kishan Bagaria recommends that Apple address this issue promptly.

Remember, never disclose your six-digit 2-factor code to anyone, whether it’s Apple or any other entity. Companies and banks will never ask for this information over the phone.
