Microsoft has confirmed that Teams will be coming to Android Auto in February 2024. This comes nearly a year after Google announced Teams for Android Auto at I/O 2023. The information was found in the Microsoft 365 roadmap, with no additional details provided.
Microsoft notes that Teams on Android Auto will allow users to easily join meetings from the calendar view, quickly call speed dial contacts, and see recent calls on their Android phones. This addition comes at a time when Android Auto and Android Automotive are seeing success, with more car manufacturers adopting Google’s platforms in the past 12 months.
Currently, Android Auto integrates with 200 million cars, including those made by Chevrolet, GM, Honda, Renault, and Volvo. Microsoft Teams coming to Android Auto is a welcome addition, considering the platform’s large customer base. The delay in bringing Teams to Android Auto may have been due to the app not being ready for primetime despite the initial announcement at I/O 2023.
