The iPhone 15 Pro may trade off weight for thickness compared to the iPhone 14 Pro

Apple will be unveiling the iPhone 15 tomorrow at the Wonderlust event and new information continues to surface. Phones Canada team has acquired details regarding the exact dimensions of the four upcoming models.

The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max are expected to feature a titanium frame, which could potentially make them lighter compared to their predecessors as titanium is a lighter material than stainless steel. It is rumored that the phones will be made of Grade 5 Titanium, known for its corrosion resistance properties. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, this new material could reduce the weight of the phones by up to 10 percent, which would be a welcome change considering the heft of the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, despite being among the top phones of 2023.

According to the latest report, the iPhone 15 Pro is estimated to weigh 188 grams, making it 18 grams lighter than the iPhone 14 Pro which weighs 206 grams. In terms of dimensions, the iPhone 15 Pro will be slightly shorter and narrower, but thicker than its predecessor. The measurements for the iPhone 15 Pro are reported to be 146.6mm x 70.6mm x 8.25mm, while the iPhone 14 Pro measures at 147.5mm x 71.5mm x 7.85mm.

Similarly, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is expected to be 19 grams lighter than the iPhone 14 Pro Max, weighing 221 grams instead of 240 grams. The iPhone 15 Pro Max might be slightly shorter, not as wide, and also thicker compared to the iPhone 14 Pro Max. The estimated dimensions for the iPhone 15 Pro Max are 159.9mm x 76.7mm 8.25mm, whereas the iPhone 14 Pro Max measures at 160.7mm x 77.6mm x 7.85mm.

Despite the increased thickness, the iPhone 15 Pro is speculated to offer improved grip due to the slightly curved back glass and more curved frame compared to the iPhone 14 Pro. The camera bump is also expected to be thicker, likely due to upgraded components. Additionally, slimmer screen bezels are anticipated for the new model.

In terms of the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus, they will likely continue to be made of aluminum and are expected to have similar dimensions as their predecessors.

Stay tuned for more updates on the iPhone 15 as more information becomes available during the Wonderlust event.
