In the bustling Chinese market, Xiaomi has emerged as the leading brand for TWS earbuds, surpassing even Apple’s iconic AirPods. According to the latest report from Canalys for Q1 2024, Xiaomi has taken the top spot with an impressive 3 million units shipped, marking a remarkable 76.2% increase from the previous year.
Xiaomi’s success can be attributed to its innovative open-ear headphones, particularly the popular Redmi Buds 5A. This cutting-edge device features a 12mm dynamic driver, up to 25 dB of Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), and up to 5 hours of playback time with an additional 30 hours provided by the charging case. Not to mention, the case itself boasts a sleek pebble-shaped design and is IP54 rated for dust and water resistance.
Following closely behind Xiaomi is Huawei, securing the second spot with 2.5 million units shipped, driven by their entry-level FreeBuds SE2. Meanwhile, Apple claims the third position with 2 million shipments in Q1 2024, showing that while they may not be at the top in China, they still hold a significant share of the market.
Rounding out the rankings is Edifier in fourth place with 1.7 million units shipped. Overall, Canalys reports a substantial increase in audio device shipments in mainland China, reaching an impressive total of 19.5 million units in Q1 alone – a notable 21.3% increase compared to the previous year.
It’s clear that Chinese consumers are embracing TWS earbuds more than ever before, and brands like Xiaomi and Huawei are leading the charge with their innovative offerings. As technology continues to evolve, it will be fascinating to see how these trends shape the future of audio devices in this dynamic market.
