Unlock the Power of AI: Google Pixel 9’s Creative Assistant Takes on Apple’s Genmoji

Google is rumored to be entering the AI-powered creativity arena with a new tool called “Creative Assistant” on the upcoming Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro phones. This tool, likely exclusive to Pixel devices, could use artificial intelligence to generate stickers and emojis, similar to Apple’s Genmoji feature.

Hints found in the code of Android 15 Beta 3 suggest that the Creative Assistant app is in the works, with references spotted in apps like Markup. Users might be able to create stickers using AI and add them to screenshots or other images with this new tool.

One question looming is whether the Creative Assistant will operate directly on the phone or rely on cloud computing. The anticipated Tensor G4 chip in the Pixel 9, along with Gemini Nano, could potentially handle sticker generation due to their smaller size and resolution compared to regular images.

This potential addition seems like a logical progression for Google’s Gboard app, which already offers Emoji Kitchen for blending emojis. The Creative Assistant could open doors for generative features allowing users to create brand-new emojis. It remains to be seen if it can rival Apple’s Genmoji unveiled at WWDC.

Exclusive AI features on Pixel phones might make them more appealing than other Android devices. However, Google’s history suggests that these features may eventually roll out to other devices or become part of a paid subscription like Google One. Time will tell how Google’s AI-powered creativity tool stacks up against Apple’s Genmoji and its accessibility to a broader user base.
