Unlocking Locked Folders Made Easy with Google Photos on Mobile Devices

Google Photos has recently made a significant update to improve user experience on Android and iOS devices. The Locked Folder feature, where users store private photos and videos, is now more easily accessible right from the Library tab, alongside Favorites, Archive, and Trash. This change aims to provide quicker and more convenient access to sensitive media.

Previously, the Locked Folder was buried within the Utilities section, requiring multiple taps to reach. Now, with its prominent placement in the Library tab, users can store and retrieve their private photos and videos with ease. While some privacy-conscious users may have appreciated the previous discreet location of the Locked Folder, Google has prioritized accessibility with this update to align the mobile apps with the web version’s design.

In addition to relocating the Locked Folder, Google Photos has also reorganized the Utilities section by moving functions like creating new albums and sharing options to the “plus” sheet in the app bar. This reorganization simplifies the app’s interface, making it easier for users to find and utilize various features that were previously hard to locate or navigate to.

The update with the new Locked Folder location and Utilities reorganization is available on both Android (version 6.89) and iOS devices. Users can simply check their app version and update if necessary to enjoy these improvements in user experience on Google Photos.
