Samsung has been making waves with its Galaxy S24 Ultra, featuring the innovative anti-glare Corning Gorilla Armor glass. This cutting-edge technology has caught the attention of many due to its remarkable ability to combat glares and reflections effectively.
The secret behind the anti-glare properties of the Galaxy S24 Ultra lies in a nano-scale layering process applied to the glass. Corning utilized a uniform plasma in an argon-filled chamber to deposit nanometer-thick layers onto the glass. This process creates tiny one-way dispersion filters within the Gorilla Armor, allowing light to be dispersed inside the glass layers rather than reflected back. As a result, strong light sources create a faint reflection instead of a harsh glare, contributing to the glass’s anti-glare capabilities.
Exclusive to the Galaxy S24 Ultra, Samsung and Corning boast that this “one-of-a-kind display material” can reduce glare by up to 75 percent and is three times more durable in drop tests compared to regular glass. While currently limited to Samsung’s flagship device, it is expected that Corning will eventually offer Gorilla Armor to other manufacturers once exclusivity ends.
