WhatsApp has been diligently working on a chat filters feature for some time now. Initially spotted in a beta version of the app last summer and again in September, progress seemed stagnant. However, recent developments suggest otherwise.
According to WABetaInfo, a trusted source for WhatsApp updates, the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.6.16 update on the Google Play Store includes a feature that enables users to filter conversations. This feature is currently being rolled out to a select group of beta testers.
In this new update, beta testers may notice a new row with chat filters at the top of their conversation list. These filters allow users to organize their chats by displaying specific types only. WhatsApp is introducing filters for showing unread conversations and listing all group chats.
Previously, the app experimented with filters for Personal and Business chats, but these have been put on hold for now. The filters are conveniently located under the top app bar, requiring some scrolling down the chats list to access if available for your account.
Chat filtering simplifies conversation organization, making it easier to locate specific chats without sifting through a long list of messages. This approach enhances communication management efficiency for users.
In addition to these updates, the Meta-owned app is also developing a feature that will enable users to pin more chats at the top of the app. Furthermore, there is talk of a new feature indicating end-to-end encrypted conversations coming soon, promising an enhanced user experience overall.
