In a fresh render, Vivo’s upcoming flagship captivates with its star-inspired design

Vivo, the Chinese smartphone maker, is preparing to release its highly anticipated flagship series, the vivo X100. We got our first glimpse of the device through an image shared on Weibo, a popular social media platform in China, by Han Boxiao, vivo’s Product Manager.

The render of the vivo X100 Pro reveals a stunning blue color combined with white elements inspired by star trails. The camera island at the back, adorned with Zeiss branding, houses four sensors. Above this array sits an LED flash, while the bottom section features the USB-C port and speakers.

There have been rumors suggesting exciting upgrades for the vivo X100 Pro Plus model. This includes a top-of-the-line IMX 989 main camera with a variable aperture and an impressive 200MP telephoto lens. On the other hand, the vivo X100 Pro is expected to feature a 64MP periscope lens with a 100mm equivalent lens.

Variable aperture technology allows the smartphone’s camera lens to adjust its diaphragm, enabling control over the amount of light entering the camera’s sensor. While this feature is still rare, it is commonly seen in Chinese phones like the Xiaomi 13 Ultra and is likely to expand to global models such as iPhones and Galaxies in the future.

In addition to camera enhancements, speculations point to the vivo X100 Pro Plus being equipped with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, a large 6.78-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate, LPDDR5x RAM, UFS4.0 storage, and an IP68 rating.

An IP68 rating indicates that the smartphone is dust-tight and can withstand occasional splashes, providing robust protection against both dust and water intrusion. Notably, many flagship smartphones like the iPhone 15 Pro Max, Galaxy S23 Ultra, and Pixel 8 Pro also boast an IP68 rating.

With the launch of the upcoming X series flagship, vivo aims to regain its top position in Chinese smartphone sales, a position recently taken over by Honor.
