Android 14 Update Brings Enhanced Heat and Battery Performance for Pixel 7 and 6 Users

Google recently unveiled its latest additions to the Pixel family, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, along with the official announcement of Android 14. The highly anticipated Android update appears to have addressed some key issues and has received positive feedback from Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 users.

According to reports on Reddit, numerous Pixel users have noticed significant improvements after upgrading to Android 14. One notable improvement is the reduction of heat and battery issues. Users have reported that their devices are running cooler, and some have even claimed that their Pixel’s battery life has doubled.

Previously, the Pixel 6 and 7 faced challenges with battery drain and overheating problems, often linked to power-hungry apps like the Google App. The use of Tensor chips, crafted on Samsung’s older 5nm technology, along with older CPU cores that consume more power, further contributed to the heating issues.

Although Google has not formally announced it, it appears that Android 14 quietly introduced changes to address these concerns. Not only have the Pixel 6 and 7 experienced improvements, but one user has also reported significant battery and temperature improvements on their Qualcomm-based Pixel 5a.

Users of the upcoming Pixel Fold can also expect these improvements after updating to Android 14. However, it’s important to note that Android 14 is not a magic fix. Due to the power-hungry nature of Tensor SoCs, devices may still heat up under intense use, particularly in direct sunlight or during gaming sessions.

If you have been struggling with similar issues on your Pixel device, it’s worth considering giving Android 14 a try. The update is already rolling out for Pixel phones, so check if your device is on the supported phones list. Additionally, Android 14 will be available later this year for Samsung Galaxy, Nothing, OnePlus, Oppo, Sony, vivo, and Xiaomi phones. Stay on the lookout for the update!

That’s it for now, stay tuned for more updates from Phones Canada!
