Apple is set to release iOS 17.2 before the end of the year. It is anticipated that this update will introduce Journal, an app that will enable iPhone users to keep a daily journal on their devices. However, Apple has decided to remove one feature from the update – collaborative playlists for Apple Music. This decision was made due to concerns about potential abuse and spam. While the feature has been cut for now, Apple is reportedly working on a way to limit the number of “pending requests” a user can receive.
The rationale behind this move is that implementing collaborative Apple Music playlists would require a toggle switch that allows users to control who can contribute to the playlists. Without such a switch, there is potential for bad actors to sabotage a user’s playlist if they gain access to it.
In addition to these changes, iOS 17.2 will also enable iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 models to be compatible with the updated Qi2 wireless charging standard, providing wireless charging speeds of up to 15W. This means users won’t need to purchase more expensive MagSafe certified chargers to enjoy faster wireless charging.
Furthermore, the update will bring improvements to the telephoto camera on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, specifically focusing speed when capturing small faraway objects. This enhancement should result in better quality telephoto pictures and make it easier to take such photos with the new iPhone Pro models.
Lastly, iOS 17.2 will introduce the ability for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max to capture spatial videos – immersive 3D video clips that provide a sense of reliving the moment when viewed with the Vision Pro spatial computer headset, which is expected to be released in the near future.
The update is anticipated to be rolled out to eligible iPhone models soon. Stay tuned for more information on this upcoming release.
