Google Drive has recently received some exciting new updates, making the app even more user-friendly and efficient. Here’s what you can expect from the latest enhancements:
– Simplified search experience with new filter categories such as File Type, Owners, and Last modified directly below the search bar.
– Relevant query filters displayed as you type, allowing for quicker selection and saving time.
– Option to further refine your search after reaching the search results page.
While these improvements are currently only available for iOS devices, Android users can look forward to receiving them soon. These changes are already accessible to Google Workspace customers, Google Workspace Individual subscribers, and users with personal Google accounts.
In addition to search enhancements, Google Drive now offers new playback features. Users will now experience Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (DASH) video transcodes for all uploaded videos, providing higher or lower resolution playback based on network quality. This update aims to improve playback initiation time and reduce re-buffering during normal playback and at higher speeds.
These playback improvements are currently rolling out to all Google Workspace customers, Google Workspace Individual subscribers, and users with personal Google accounts. Although these enhancements apply only to new videos uploaded to Drive at the moment, existing videos will be updated by the end of the year according to Google’s announcement.
Stay tuned for more updates on how these changes will enhance your Google Drive experience!
