Bell Canada Boosts 5G+ Network Speeds in Toronto and Kitchener-Waterloo
Bell Canada is ramping up its 5G+ network in select areas of Toronto and Kitchener-Waterloo by deploying the new 3800 MHz spectrum. This move is set to enhance mobile experiences by offering faster speeds and increased responsiveness. Here are some key highlights of this exciting development:
– Bell acquired the 3800 MHz spectrum in 2023, paving the way for theoretical peak download speeds of up to 4Gbps in specific locations.
– The telecom giant is currently testing these enhanced speeds through a partnership with Samsung, focusing on 5 Component Carrier aggregation (5CCA) on the Galaxy S24 series. This technology allows smartphones to access the newly deployed 3800 MHz spectrum along with other available 5G frequencies, like the existing 3500 MHz network.
– Bell recently achieved a significant milestone by successfully conducting a live network test of 5CCA, achieving download speeds exceeding 2Gbps. This marks the fastest recorded speeds in Canada to date.
Stephen Howe, Chief Technology and Information Officer at Bell, expressed enthusiasm about this advancement, stating, “Our commitment to innovation reaches new heights today as we begin deploying 3800 MHz spectrum, which will offer customers access to the country’s fastest mobile technology yet.”
