Report: The cost to make the iPhone 15 Pro Max is $502, priced at $1,199

The cost of manufacturing the iPhone 15 Pro Max has been revealed in a report from Counterpoint Research. According to the report, it costs Apple $502 to make the $1,199 base variant of the iPhone 15 Pro Max (8/256GB). This represents an 8% increase compared to the cost of making the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

The increase in production cost can be attributed to three key factors: the 3-nanometer A17 Pro chip, the new 5x telephoto camera system with a tetraprism, and the titanium frame. On the other hand, costs have decreased for memory and display components, as prices for these components have fallen in the global market.

It is worth noting that Apple has included more self-designed components in the iPhone 15 Pro Max compared to its predecessor, accounting for 25% of the total BoM cost. Despite the increase in production costs, the iPhone 15 Pro Max still maintains the highest profit margin in this year’s lineup.
