Resident Evil 7 iOS Sales Fall Short: What Does This Mean for Gamers? | Phones Canada Blog

Capcom’s Resident Evil 7 has made its debut on iOS with mixed reviews. According to recent data from MobileGamer.biz, this survival horror game, released on July 2nd for iPhone 15 Pro, has garnered less than 2,000 purchases.

Despite being downloaded by approximately 83,000 users across iPhone 15 Pro, M1 iPads, and Macs, Resident Evil 7 is a free-to-start game on Apple devices. This has resulted in Capcom earning only $28,140 USD (around $38,000 CAD) from sales.

The limited success of Resident Evil 7 on iOS can be attributed to several factors:

– The game is seven years old, making it less appealing to gamers seeking newer titles.
– Recent releases like Resident Evil Village and Death Stranding have seen better sales numbers on iOS.
– The premium price tag of $29 CAD may deter mobile gamers accustomed to free-to-play options.

While Capcom, Kojima Productions, and Ubisoft have shown support for Apple’s AAA gaming push, other major publishers have yet to follow suit. However, with Ubisoft set to release Assassin’s Creed Shadows for iPad and Mac later this year, there is hope for more high-quality gaming experiences on Apple devices.

As Apple continues its efforts to attract top studios during events like the annual iPhone reveal, we may see a shift towards more diverse and engaging gaming content for iOS users. Stay tuned for updates on the evolving landscape of mobile gaming!
